End of School Year Fun & Beginning of Summer

So, I thought I would start out with the end of the school year last year and the beginning of summer, to start our array of pictures. We had tons of fun, with a Kindergarten "graduation", berry picking, the Rose Parade, adoption of a hamster "Alex", and spaying of Abbie.

It was strawberry season and we are a huge berry family, so we went to pick some. We picked for only approx. 20 min. and we picked over 12 cups of strawberries. Sadiyah and Kai did a great job only picking ripe ones, but Kolbie had a bit of a time doing anything productive...so she became the bag carrier. This kept her busy and then she became the "lil' mama" and was teling everyone where to go and what berries to pick.

Sadiyah got quite the little stash in her box and most of them were bite size berries, so you know we had to taste a couple :).

Abbie then had to have her appt. to get spayed. We had waited long enough and didn't want the next stage of her life to happen and quite frankly weren't going to be able to handle it if it surprised us.....those of you that have pets, you know what I mean :)
So she had it done and to our surprise was 75 lbs. at 8 months. Good grief, I know we have a small horse for a pet. The kids took really good care of her though, and let her be when she was resting.

At the end of the school year we had the opportunity to babysit the class hamster for the summer. Sahaan and I thought this would be a good idea because they could get their little animal "fix" and then we could give it back. The kids loved having Alex stay with us and even built him a lego tunnel castle. So as you can imagine, they built lego buildings full of tunnels and would put him inside and wait patiently to see where he would pop out. Alex is now back in Ms. Mash's class and Kai, Kolbie and I visit him weekly to give him a treat.

Sadiyah didn't finish school until a week later then Kai, but she was able to make it to his graduation. She was a great big sister in supporting Kai and making him feel big that day.

This is Kai and Ms. Mash, his kindergarten teacher. Kolbie and I also got to help out regularly 2 times a week helping the kids read in class. Kolbie loved her classroom and can't wait to start school herself.

This is Kai's class graduating. I think the year started out with 24 students, and ended with 27 students.

We also went to the Rose Parade with two families from our church. Becca, Troy, Hollie, Jelani and nieces, nephews and other friends children came along. Troy and Jelani got the kids some crazy donuts that had cereal for decorations, and goo that came out and all over them....forget what the store called them, but the kids LOVED them.

There was also a man making balloon animals and other fun stuff. Here is Kolbie with her balloon flower. She was very happy to have it and kept it with her the entire rest of the day.
Kai on the other hand, thought to get a sword with Cameron and they faught to the end. I think they were pretending to be in the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, or possible Darth Vader and Luke.

We loved the fun times with family and friends. It was a great way to start out the summer!
See you again soon.
Bye!
