Kai - Lil' Man of the Month

Kai had alot of firsts at the end of March and beginning of April!

He had his first fade hair cut. We chopped off the curls and went for the VERY short, tight to his head, fade. He loves it. I missed the curls and it took some getting used to, but it made the mornings alot easier at combing time. :)

He also got student of the month at his school for his class. He has been very responsible, caring and focused this year in school. He has gotten his time outs, for talking to loud, and not stopping his reading when he was supposed to be listening to the teacher, but those that know him, know he has NO whisper button. :) And reading isn't the worst thing to be doing instead of not listening.

This is his principal Ms. Fox handing out the awards.

The first & second graders who received the student of the month awards.

Kai also was apart of his first Jog-a-thon. It was a Run 4 The Arts jog-a-thon, to raise money for the school to have special art programs brought in to the school through out next year. This year they had a few, one of whom was a sled dog driver. She had taken her dogs on a long journey accross the Antartic (I think), and one of her dogs fell through the ice. She was going to have to cut the line and let the dog go to save the others, but the other dogs rallied around her and pulled the dog out of the ice and it survived. She then wrote the childrens book about her journey. The kids throughout the school then made huge wall sized posters to track different sledding expeditions set by different sled drivers.

And off they went, 30 minutes of non stop running, around what would be the size of a softball field.

As the jog went on, they got more and more tired, so this is where my pics ended because Kolbie and I started to run with them to encourage them.

And the race was complete....and a popcicle to cool down with. Kai was able to run 20 laps, and raised $205.00 dollars for the program.
We were so proud of him and what he accomplished. Way to go Kai!
